How do I get information about Mount Kenya University?

Visit mku.ac.ke or visit the MKU main campus or any campus/regional centre or ODEL directorate

 

Click on www.distance.mku.ac.ke varsity-capture the domain/Units registration and select the examination centres and generate the exam cars and produce your ID and admissions office in every centre

  • Students apply to join the varsity using the set university procedure which entails filling an application form which can be downloaded here of picked for a campus or marketing office near you.
  • The students are then issued with offer letter if the qualify or are advised on other courses that they can join in case they don’t meet the required minimum entry requirements by the University Senate
  • Students are required to report to digital office for registration. During this period the students are taken through the e-learning portal where they are shown how they will be accessing modules, how to interact with the lecturers through the discussion rooms and how to submit Continuous Assessment Tests (CAT) and assignments
  • From there the students are requested to choose their examinations center where they meet again with the university as they sit for their end of semester examinations-academic calendar to confirm the orientation dates and venue-physical or orientation online

There are centers at all mku campuses and odl centers, students are required to choose their center on the students’ portal during registration. The international students sit their exams from the Kenyan embassies in the countries they are based.

 

Yes students with diploma courses enrolling for degree course have a provision to apply for credit transfers.

 

You can make an online application through the portal or visit the campus to fill in the application forms and attach your academic certificates.

 

Application fee is Kes 1000 for diploma and bachelors programs and Kes 2000 for master’s program.

Examination regulations and quality assurance mechanisms

The student must complete the course as per the course academic requirements and graduation clearance is conducted online and if not contact the school coordinator on the emails given – graduation square photos, twice an year in July and December annually.
