Dr Mary Mugwe Chui is a graduate of Kenyatta University (Bachelor of Education, and Master of Education) and Catholic University of Eastern Africa(Doctor of Philosophy Degree). I have up to 10 years experience of University teaching and research. I am on full time appointment as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Management and Curriculum Studies at Mount Kenya University (MKU), with academic and professional interests in Educational Management and Planning.I have held appointments as a part-time lecturer at Kenyatta University and African Nazarene University in Nairobi. Besides my extensive experience of teaching, research and supervision of dozens of postgraduate students at MKU, I have served the institution in various leadership and administrative positions. I have held position of Coordinator Postgraduate Studies in the School of Education for two and half years, oversaw the appointment of qualified supervisors, organised student seminars and defences, and career mentorship for over 250 students. I have played a lead role in the coordination of external linkages and networked for staff capacity building through conferences, community engagement and outreach. Currently, am serving as University Programme leader in Master of Education and Deputy Director, Distance Institution and Electronic Based Learning, MKU, offering support services to thousands of School based/virtual/distance learning students, which in addition to my educational training, have prepared me for effective stewardship of University core functions of teaching, research and innovation for transformation and sustainable global development. I have significant experience in the facilitation of action learning programmes and transformative education interventions, exemplified by current engagement as a lead consultant in UNESCO’s and Kenya’s Ministry of Education project on Peace Education in Kenya’s Universities and Schools. I also have extensive experience in development of learning tools and facilitation of training workshops in formal settings. I am a member and active participant of Educational Administration and Management Aged 44 years, I am married and blessed with three children, and one adopted.
